Great historical romance! Lillian is a great heroine - sweet, funny and loving, but not as beautiful as her sisters. Will doesn't see her true beauty until after he befriends after rescuing her from an accident. He starts off a bit of a careless man that goes about his life with no real purpose, but as we get to know him better through his letters to Lillian, we discover that there is more than meets the eye. Their relationship develops slowly, but before he can declare his feelings for her, he if forced to make a decision that will make it impossible to be with her no matter his choice. Two years after leaving her, Will comes back to find that she is no longer the young girl he left behind. He is also not the same man who left, but his feeling for Lillian remain the same. I like that she did not immediately give into Will, but took her time to sort through her feelings. Lillian's sisters are so different from each other, but they play an important part in her story. I am looking forward to reading their stories.
