It takes lots of baby steps for Nicholas and Isabella to consummate their marriage. He is very sweet in the way he slowly gains her trust by telling her stories, playing cards and talking about his childhood. Slowly, Isabella begins to open up to him, and lets him see who she really is, not just what her mother raised her to be. It's a sweet romance with very little drama which makes it very enjoyable.
